To emigrate to Spain a number of actions are required. below we explain this:

Registration in the Central Register of Foreigners

If you are planning to come permanently to Spain, then you must register in the “Registro Central de Extranjeros”.

You do this in the police office that has an office for foreigners. Here you can apply for the “certificado de registro”.

Two types of registrations

There are two types of registration:

  • Certificate of Registration of the Ciudadano de la Unión
  • certificado de su derecho a residir con carácter permanente

At the first registration, certificado de registro, it is about a temporary registration. After 5 years you have to register again.

The second registration is a permanent stay. This registration is approved as:

You have legally lived in Spain for 5 years

If you reach the retirement age

If you are declared unemployed

If you have worked and lived in Spain three years later, and then go to work in another EU country, but still live in Spain.

Spanish residence permit
